Toyota bB overview

First Generation

Introduced in 2001, the Toyota bB is a mini MPV, produced by the Toyota Motor Corporation based on the Toyota Vitz.
1.3 litre and 1.5 litre I4 petrol engines were fitted as standard across the range.
While the box-shaped car was initially targeted towards Japanese twenty-something men, it also proved very popular with women buyers as well.
In 2001, a new model called bB "open deck" was released in Japan. This model had an open deck that made it more like a coupe utility, similar to the Subaru Baja.

Second Generation

In December 2005, the 2nd generation Toyota bB was introduced as the 'music player'. This came equipped with either a 109hp 1.5 litre (Z Model) 3SZ-VE VVT-i petrol engine or a 92hp 1.3L (S Model) K3-VE VVT-i petrol engine. Both models had optional 4WD.

In the United States, the first-generation Toyota bB was marketed under the brand 'Scion xB'. The second generation US xB models are not based on the Toyota bB but were specifically designed by Toyota to appeal to American market.

The second generation Toyota bB models were also released as the Daihatsu Materia and Daihatsu Sirion
